While on vacation in Spain two friends took a left turn instead of a right. It lead them to the discovery of a container filled with the work’s of a prominent Spanish Designer of the 1920’s, Manuel Lopez. They purchased the container realizing with a few updates the work and ideas could fit a niche demographic of fabric, fashion and furniture connoisseur’s. Two identities were developed, the first for the collection Manuel Lopez and the second for the business owning the collection. The Manuel Lopez logo is a romantic expression of the structure, detail and vibrant accent color found in Matador costumes and identifies with the regional cues of it’s origin. Serrano 17 was the street name and address of Manuel Lopez in Spain. This mark uses a “black letter” font which is prevalent in Latino culture and has an expressive wrought iron quality found in Spanish Architecture.
