Sealife Response, Rehab, and Research (SR3)

Conservation B2B Brand Platform

Brand Strategy / Creative Strategy / Identity Design

With updated facilities on the horizon, Sealife Response, Rehab, and Research—a Pacific Northwest nonprofit—sought a more approachable, flexible identity. The goal was to better connect with communities while maintaining authority across environments, reflecting its role as a regional marine wildlife responder rather than a local veterinary provider.

Initial Logo Exploration

Our logo exploration spanned a range of visual directions—from bold, iconic marks to softer, more expressive forms—as we searched for a symbol that embodies both the strength and empathy of the organization. A key requirement was that the final mark represent multiple animals and reinforce the full spectrum of services SR3 provides.

Primary Logo

The finished symbol is modern, approachable, and mission-aligned—balancing scientific credibility with the warmth and care at the heart of their work. At first glance, it appears to be a killer whale, but on closer look, the whale’s shape is formed by the integration of two other species, creating a multi-animal composition that brings energy and engagement to all communications. Building on the previous logo’s use of the killer whale, this design continues and evolves the existing brand equity, while also addressing the original requirement of representing multiple animals.

Lockups & Clear Space

Our final logo lockups are designed for clarity and consistency across all applications. Defined clearspace ensures the mark remains legible, protected, and visually prominent in every environment.

Graphic Foundation

The graphic foundation is built to feel positive, clear, and distinctly theirs. The primary blue serves as a bright, uplifting anchor for the brand, while our vibrant yellow acts as an alerting color—standing out in shifting environmental conditions. Photo Journalism captures situations as they happen; pattern, and typography round out the system, including a bespoke wave pattern designed to add energy and movement to large-scale applications while creating flexible spaces for text.

Applications

The result is a flexible, visually compelling brand that enhances recognition, builds trust among community stakeholders, and ensures consistent visibility—from onshore signage to open-sea operations.
