Research
CHALLENGE
The client needed a new brand identity that communicated the full range of their work—sealife response, rehab, and research in the Pacific Northwest—while being approachable and genuine to resonate with tribal and community leaders. The identity had to align with their mission and values, while also being adaptable for use under challenging environmental conditions at sea (day/night, rain/clouds). Additionally, as a non-profit, the branding initiatives required cost-effective solutions to ensure financial sustainability.
SOLUTION
To address the client’s need for a comprehensive identity, we embraced a new primary name, “BlueHope” (developed by D’Rozario and Partners), and supplemented it with a secondary infoline “PAC NW Sealife Species Assist,” which communicates their range of expertise and regional focus. We designed a logo that not only conveys their mission but also softens the clinical nature of their work, making it more approachable. The logo and connecting infoline work in 1-color, making it a cost-effective solution. To captivate audiences, we incorporated stunning sea life photography from conservation photographer Jem Cresswell. The font, crisp and clean, ensures legibility in challenging conditions, while the color palette—mid-range aqua shades paired with an urgent bright fluorescent yellow—strikes a balance between light and dark environments, ensuring the identity stands out in all situations.

ROLE
Collaborated with external partners to develop brand identity and communications, including logo, tagline, fonts, color palettes, and custom graphics. Led design of interior spaces, uniforms, and a custom app, managing the creative process from concept through completion.
